My I-pilot keeps losing contact with satelittes every few minutes. It does this in open areas in a river or dam. I changed the battery in the remote thinking it may be the cause. The reception indicator on the hand piece drops in and out too often. The motor runs on all other manual functions, but has a hissy fit when asked to spot lock etc! Does anyone know any more on the subject?

Johnny,
We have lost satellite contact a couple of times at Mondy. To resolve this all we did was turn the motor off for 20 seconds or so and then switch on again. All was then OK for the rest of the session...

There was an issue with the earlier models. There should be a red dot on the circuit board in the head unit.
Did you get it locally? if so give bla a ring and they can tell you exactly where to look for the dot.
There was a few posts on ausfish re this issue. If you got it from the states you will have to sntd it back to minnkota in the states.
They will send you a new unit on receipt of the old one.
Only problem with if its from the states you are up for postage both ways. $29 air mail from Au but $50 from USA to Australia..
Quite a few posts on Ausfish re this last year.

Pete,
I have tried the 'off, on' option and this gives full reception again, then it dies again after about 5 minutes, or less- reception dropping back to zero bars.
Ray,
It was purchased in Aus through BLA.
These GPS systems are fantastic, never realised how much we'd rely on them as part of every day life.
Does anyone else have any ideas? I'll talk to BLA tomorrow.
