Still water being dumped from Wivenhoe this morning. Another huge restocking of the mid and lower Brisbane River. Released almost half a million bass into Lakes Wivenhoe & Somerset this season alone.... Was just thinking those hot flats bites on Big W should be due this winter, might be a non event now.

Good to get a flush out of that water lettuce, pity the Lockyer Creek didn't get a better flush, that's where all the weed is coming from....

Will be interesting for sure.

Anyone recall having a May spill for BigW since the SIP was introduced?

Was the SIP scheme pre or post 74 ?

Im a little young to know from memory but what time of year was that flood ?

No SIP back then, also no Wivenhoe then.  I'm pretty certain there would have been May releases in the past, back when they used to let water go to keep the river usable.

74 Floods were at the end of January. Rained like hell from Aussie Day until the 31st.

Wivenhoe construction ended in 1985, the year I moved to Queensland.  We used to fish in the pools below the wall, you could drive to them then, and also at night at Sheepstation Inlet for Eel Tailed Catfish.

Seqwater advises that gate releases from Wivenhoe Dam ceased at 4.00pm, Tuesday 5 May 2015 and the Flood Mobilisation Centre has de-mobilised.

DJI Phantom II with 5.4GHZ FRSky Taranis Controller, DJI 3D Gimbal and a Gopro Hero 4 Black.  (Yep, don't mean cr@p to me either at the moment.) I still don't have a screen so I can see what the camera sees, and the iPhone app is a bit dickie.  A good friend, Steve Brown (Ausfish) has been long distance tutoring me after he colluded with Pam to get it for me for a birthday gift.  I'm trying to get a bit of practice so I can take it to Kiritimati (Christmas) Island in two weeks, but it looks like the baggage limit will make me leave it at home.

Yes, a lot of the water coming out of Wivenhoe was from Somerset.  Most of the rain was up in the Stanley catchment.

Invoice the fishing club who stock the river further down. The river below gets hundreds of thousands of SIP funded bass every flow from the 'Hoe.
