Boat ramps in need of reapair
« on: April 07, 2014, 07:52:39 AM »
The Monduran holiday / camping park boat ramp is interesting to say the least, It’s certainly one for four wheel drive vehicles only, the ground seems stable and compacted enough while it’s dry but being granitic sand I wouldn’t try it in the wet with a two wheel drive, I took my 4x4 in as far as the back wheels were in 6 inches of water and the boat was still a foot out of water (bit of a push to launch), It’s very steep and the bitumen stops about 15 metres up hill, probably better to use the public ramp but it’s defiantly time for the caravan park to put their hands in their pockets and fix it because the dam level at the moment is 87 % and I’d hate to see it at 60%.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't use the proper boat ramp in conditions like that.  I know it was popular when the lake was low, but now that it's full the concrete ramp should be easy.

Thanks Aussiebasser, I think the message was really to alert 2 wheel drive cars from getting into a drama, I have on occasions used  the public ramp and generally on weekends parking can be just as squeeze as the parks ramp (sometimes), but for me it’s not only using a ramp out of the flow & wind, it’s about getting what you pay for, Didn’t want to whinge rather  than hear what other ramps could pose a problem and like I said I have a large 4x4 but not everyone else does, Thanks again.

Just a post note; It's roughly a 10 kl round trip from Monduran Holiday Park to the public ramp
