Never been to the Amazon JM.
Man Oh Man, those Peacock Bass hit hard. Interesting to see how far they miss those lures on occasions.
When are you going?

We met some Americans at Baia last year who fish the Amazon every year. January is supposed to be the best, they like to get on the first trip after the wet season. They caught over 1000 Peacocks on their last 8 day trip. We're hoping to go January 2013.

The peacock bass grows to 25pounds.
as that neat clip show, they hit a surface lure like a piano being dropped in the water.
The pull thereafter is on a par with a lake living barra of the same size.
Black bass and bigger spot-tails need a heavier drag setting.

Johhny that's insane action, thanks for sharing. Obviously a "best of" video. Seen barra action like that occasionally in the right time & place.
