North Pine PB's for my son
« on: December 25, 2011, 11:08:38 AM »
Took my son out to North Pine dam earlier in the month chasing yella's, and much to his disgust he got 2 PB's! Not Yella's!

Got a few spangleds around that size, biggest I have ever seen, and fat as!
Just the one tilapia, it went by by, the perch went back in to catch when even bigger!

That's one solid Spanled Perch!!

I went over to Lake Samsonvale to help the crew run a fishing comp there some years ago. I was running one of the weight ins & a guy brought up a 32cm model just over 1kg; fat as a pig it was.

Thanks for posting.  :youbeauty

Cheers,

fitz..

Good stuff taking the youngun's out fishing. I still remember the look on my son's face when he caught his first Bass. Priceless stuff.

Their a pretty good scrappy fighter great on light fly gear. Is it worth putting in there with a yak at all ? An SIP is required for there isn't it ? Got some time off this week so will be trying to visit as many new spots as possible before we get some more substantial rain. Cheers Pat.

SIP and Permit in the dam. Put in below the dam wall, Young's crossing or the pump station. no SIP, no Permit.

Years ago i got a spangled perch that went 31cm from cressbrook. I couldn believe it. I brought it home for my oldman as he use to eat them as kids from creeks. He recons it was the best eating fish. Never caught 1 even close since. We have land right on the eastern edge of the great dividing range right in the very headwater for creeks that flow into wivenhoe. The creeks and dams were dry up to the floods in january. They are now full and at the start they were absolutely full of spangles. The little buggers swam up road table drains and made it into dams and ever little hole in the in creeks. They are getting a hammering from shags and numbers are thinning out but still see them. Its unreal and they are a great little fish.

I think is still some permits left. have a look at the PRFMA website.

The old spangleds are a gutsy little fish. I use them to teach my kids surface fishing. They are a pest when bait fishing though.
