Wet hinterland bassing
« on: January 08, 2011, 06:21:55 AM »
Had a couple of red hot sessions and a couple of not so sessions on the bass down in the coast hinterland. Good sessions were from hot arvos and early mornings and the not so good sessions were after showers when the creek would run dirty for a few hours. Did find though that the s/baits were the gun lure in the dirty water. Had to strip off and hit the water a couple of times as the wind caused a wayward cast and I can tell you that rain water comming down off the mountains is quite cold when it reaches certain parts of your body ::)

Biggest bass was 35cm, but what they lacked in size they made up for in fight, plus the fact you were trying to get them in against the flow of the fast running creek. By being a bit observant I would look for small back eddies in the creek, some of which were only a metre square, then plonk a lure right in the middle of it and most times it was smashed as it hit the water. This small creek lure bassing would have to be my favourite by a mile. :youbeauty

Good stuff Dino,
Might make me get off my bum. Were you bank fishing or in a kayak?
