West of the Great Dividing Range for cod. Little or no chance east of the mountains due to either being totally protected or those locations where you are allowed to target them (lakes only), you're going to need a boat to get to them and the right gear to catch one.

Caught everything but a shark on a lure. (well everything that I have wanted to catch)
Actually I've caught more types of fish on lures than bait.

If we're strictly talking freshwater.

Lures and SPs:
tarpon
barramundi
spangled perch
mangrove jack
tilapia
giant herring (yes in the fresh)
sooty grunter
sleepy cod

Fly:
tarpon
mangrove jack
barramundi
spangled perch
jungle perch
sooty grunter
rainbow fish
brown trout
tilapia

Something like that anyway  :P

Certainly caught them at Colleges crossing before. (yellow fin bream).

Not a bad little lure those "super bream" used them a lot when teaching the kids to lure fish. (easier on the pocket).

Most fresh water lures tend to be a fatter profile with a more aggressive wobble than those thin minnows have, but they still catch fish.

If your want a definite bass catcher from the supermarket range Joey, its pretty hard to go past the Kokoda G Vibe, I've caught a lot of bass on them years ago ($5 instead of $25 for the imported Japanese equivalent in the day), I dont tend to use that style of lure much these days. Kmart flog them under "ET" branding. Otherwise you can pay 50% more and buy them from BCF for $7.50.
