Title: Dumaresq River at Texas again.

Scored another trip down to the Dumaresq on Thursday. I took another first timer with me, my wife's brother. It was a steamy afternoon with plenty of clouds bubbling away by the time we were on the river.

He thought I was some sort of cod fishing Jedi when I nailed my first on the second cast.

I also gave him some hints on likely cod haunts.

The grumbling in the sky was starting to get close.

But we kept fishing a bit longer.

We had to shelter under a willow tree when the storm hit.

After losing an hours fishing we continued, so did the fish.

The plan was to keep fishing well into the night but a strong easterly wind came up after the storm had passed us which made surface fishing difficult. We both still landed cod on surface though.

By 10pm we'd had enough of the wind and bailed. Due the constant thunder and lightening we didn't camp and drove home. Still a successful trip, the newbie got cod and spinnerbaits and surface walkers. No great size though, maybe the bigger ones were the big splashes that was missed. Thanks for reading.

Nice report mate. You've inspired me to get out / down that way in the coming week, been a while for me.
