First thing first congratulations to Mrs Novice (Dave's partner) for taking out the 2011 Wivenhoe Kayak and Canoe Convention.
Second thing i scored an Ocean Kayak Prowler 13. So for those who didn't enter this year please do it next, I mean for a measley $50 you can win some awesome prizes.
I would like to thank Fitz, Dale and everyone else who was involved in organising the convention. As a convention virgin I loved it and will be back again. I met plenty of people and learned a hell of a lot.
I would also like to thank all the people from BLA for supporting the event. Absolutely stoked with the new yak can't wait to take her out.

An absolute fantastic weekend! It was great to put some faces to the names!

Top event and top weekend guys. Thanks to all the sponsors and workers who make it happen. There is nothing else like this event on the calender and I hope it continues to grow. Next year the dam will hopefully be fishing a bit better.
Any fish pulled out of the dam Fitzy or were they all from the creek?

I know John V got one in the lake yesterday, we didn't ask & didn't read the trip planners so we aren't sure where the fish were caught, however I would think that 99% were from the ribba.

John V did manage one from the lake trolling a spinnerbait. From memory it came from the point opposite the camp on lumleys but I am certain he will let us know.

Alison says thankyou to all who congratulated her and for all the kind words . She will be unbearable at work today :) . Her weapons of choice for the winning fish were spinnerbaits , Bassman 3/8 oz in gold and black on Saturday , and white and caramel on Sunday. Purchased last week from Charltons at Redbank .
All three place getters fished from the same launch spot , mmmmm.....Dale's crystal ball was on the money .

i should mention that i used a (fysshe lil somerset) 4-5mtr deep diver timber body lure in black with white stripes , i upgraded the hooks to decoy wide gap which are very sticky sharp hooks, you can pick them up at charltons. i upgrade all my hard bodies, blades and vibes to these hooks ;) that is what i meant to say when i was at the presentation ;D should have left the coopers alone lol

One thing to remember is that probably all the fish that were caught in the river originated in the dam from the efforts of the stocking assn.who perform a terrific job with the limited funds at their disposal.
Hopefully next year will not clash with the Nanango Muster and I will be able to attend.

Dale you may have appreciated Steve's results better if he shaved before you kissed him, but likely he would still not be as smooth skinned as Alison.

Just inside the point below Lumley Hill camp site. In a bit less than five metres of water. Only a short time before that I had missed a bite, checked the lure (And I wasn't gonna tell anyone but it was a new lure and still had the protective plastic tube on the hook ) :-[ Next time I might take the time to put my specs on while tying on a lure.

I arrived at wivenhoe determined to fish the dam no matter what. Shame the weather didn't play fair. Nice in hindsight but I wish I had brought my SOT instead of my SIK for such conditions. Still it was fun bobbing around like a cork trying to fish one spot travelling at 10 knots downwind.
Thankyou Fitzy, Dale and all involved for the endless hours you put in for a fantastic weekend. I will be back again next year and a little wiser i hope.
Thankyou to all the sponsors and and supporters ,which without your generosity this event could not be the success that grows each year.

I manged to win the C-Tug trolley in the lucky draw and this will put too great use, so thanks again to the sponsor without them these great prizes wouldn't be available. :thanks

A big thank you to Fitzy and Dale for the competition last weekend. I could not believe the size of the goldens that I caught since I have never caught any in the Brisbane River before. The whole weekend was a well-organised event with great sponsors and organisers.
