Fishing Report
Thursday 28th July, 2011

SWEETWATER

SOMERSET DAM
There has been a few Bass taken, mainly from Pelican Point through to the Queen Street and Bay 13 areas of the dam. The Redclaw have slowed, due to the cold conditions over the past week.

BOONDOOMA DAM
Not much has changed here over the past week, the best spots are timbered areas in the Stuart and Boyne arms of the dam, where there has been some Bass and Yellowbelly taken on spinnerbaits, Jackalls and blades and also a few on live shrimp.

LAKE BARAMBAH ( BJELKE PETERSON DAM )
Fishing is still difficult here, but if you are heading that way, it is still worth a try for Yellowbelly in the very back reaches of the dam, using live shrimp.

LESLIE DAM
Similar to last week, still a bit quiet with a few Yellowbelly landed, with live worms proving to be the most successfull.

GLENLYON DAM
This dam has been giving the spinnerbait anglers some rewards, with good numbers of Cod up around the 65cm mark being taken. Trolling spinnerbaits have also been successful in capturing a few Yellowbelly.

TEXAS
Still a few Cod up to 20lb have been taken throughout the Dumeresq River, with bait proving to be popular, there have also been a few Yellowbelly about as well.

GOONDIWINDI
The Macintyre River in the town reaches of Goondiwindi has seen plenty of Cod being caught on spinnerbaits over the past week. If you travel out from the town and fish the deeper holes, there has been some nice Yellowbelly taken on dark coloured Jackalls.

ST.GEORGE
The Ballone River has been a bit quiet as far as the Cod fishing goes, but there has been some nice Yellowbelly around the 3 to 4lb mark, taken mainly on bait.

RUSTWATER

TWEED
The creeks are fishing well for Bream and Flathead, which are being caught on soft plastics and bait. The rockwall near the river mouth has produced some good size Jewies and Australian Salmon. Offshore has seen some big Amberjacks and Kingfish out wide, with some quality Snapper being landed around the closer reefs.

GOLD COAST
Heaps of Australian Salmon around Wavebreak Island, Tailor off the Pumping Jetty, School Jew around the rock walls and plenty of Squid near Crab Island. A few Snapper and Amberjack have been caught offshore, with the weather improving anglers are getting out a bit further for the bigger fish.

CALOUNDRA
Tailor in the passage, and around the Boardwalk you could land some nice Bream and Luderick. Trevelly are on the move in the canals, with some big Jewies being hooked in the deeper holes of Bells Creek. A bit quiet offshore, with just a few Snapper being caught in close.

MAROOCHYDORE/MOOLOOLABA
The Maroochy River is producing heaps of Gar, good size Bream around Black Banks, plus some nice Jewies have been putting a decent bend in a few light Bream outfits. The beaches have been producing Dart and Bream. Offshore has seen soft plastics working well for Snapper and Cobia, with live bait picking up the odd Trevelly.

NOOSA
If you want to chase Trevelly, then the Noosa River is the place to go, with stacks of fish being caught using bait, soft plastics and hard body lures. Around the rock walls good size Blackfish are moving in, and throughout the river has seen some good size Whiting taken. Offshore has seen some reasonable catches of Red Emperor and Cobia.

HERVEY BAY
The prawns have slowed down and the fishing has been pretty steady, but with some fine weather about, anglers should be able to get out amongst the fish.
