Title: Dahlberg Frog diver
Post by: Sweetwater on May 12, 2011, 11:57:08 PM
I picked up a couple of these River to Sea Dahlberg Diver Frogs from Charlton's tonight, will give them a swim in some cod water this weekend. The video looks good.... then again, they wouldn't put a video up that made them look bad....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrGL7-UUGE4

Have a large single upward facing hook that's great for weedy water. Where I'm going there's no weed ATM so I've rigged a downward facing stinger on the rear for a better hookup ratio.

The lure body is hard plastic, not soft as I first imagined it might be; feels like eurathane.
You get a spare set of legs & a wire to threat them through.
The clear soft plastic diving surface over the fave of the frog can be removed by the look of it so it won't be a diver, just a surface lure.

They're from River to Sea so they're probably not top shelf quality, but at $18 they're no el cheepo either.

See if I come back with a thumbs up :thumb or thumbs down  :thumbdown on them.....

fitz..

Lots of mice around at the mo so a better bet would be to get one of Dales ugg boots and cut a bit off and then some of his wig and glue them together.

Might not work but would be fun taking the piss out of Dale  :thumbsup

Steve,

Your suggestion could work , he'd have no problem reaching the ugg boots but what if Dale's wearing the wig at the time? :walkplank

Gave it a fair swim on the weekend. Stopped at one spot on the way out to the Dumaresq River. First cast got a bow wave follow on the surface, next cast got hit when retrieved subsurface but threw the hook. Nothing more from another dozen casts.

Firshed with it for a couple of hours early morning on the Dumarseq River. Was pretty breezy so not ideal for surface work. It didn't get a follow or hit, but then again nothing anyone else was throwing got hit either. Switched to spinnerbaits later & ended up getting a few.

I like the lure & will definately fish with it for cod in the future. Recon Barra & Saratoga would take it as well.

Got one of these myself have used it a couple of times for Toga locally in a very weedy/heaps of lilys spot, removed the plastic bib/weed guard though, no stinger.
Like it a lot 3 Toga from 4 strikes one came back for a second go after having a good hold of it.
Only one Bass though a lot of little guys had fun trying to eat it.

cheers

I got some these in from the US for $11 and have given them a swim.  Awesome action.  Would love a smaller version as well.

I got this nice little guy on a Dahlberg Diver. I like the stinger hook cause I have found you get probably one fish in 5 hits actually hook up.
