Lake Moogerah, just an arvo paddle flicking some lures
« on: May 10, 2014, 07:27:14 PM »
Left the young billy lid with some family and was able to sneak out for a relaxing paddle this afternoon at Lake Moogerah with the hugs n kisses. We launched our yaks from the base of the grassy hill near the wall picnic area.

Weather was very pleasant with hardly a breath of wind.

The lake water level is still holding quite high, only about a foot off the spillway.

A big thankyou to StevenM for the lend of his yak (we are currently a one kayak family)

It apparently comes with mojo installed too :)

In all pleasant afternoon, just the fishing was slow along the edges where we mainly concentrated.

Cheers,
Dave.

I have been thinking about hitting the local for the first time this season, I better hurry up I suppose.

There was only one or two water skiers on moogerah yesterday, and one jet ski. Was quiet compared to normal, nice for a change.

A sounder would have been great to have taken along, birds were working the middle and at times there was a very strong fishy smell paddling through those spots. Elsewhere in the past bass aren't too far away from odours like that.

Cheers,
Dave.

Timber = wood

timber anchor = wood anchor

I dub my deep divers "velcro". As sure as the sun will rise somewhere tomorrow, if it's there, they will stick to it :) At least the hobie makes it easy to turn around and retrieve them!

Only been to Moogerah once, and we picked up a couple of yellas around the dead timbers, but just before leaving, we went into the area with the high rocks and the waterfall. Depending on the water level , you may or may not have a waterfall, but you can see the high rocks in one of the photos. I had a sounder, and it was going nuts in there. There were fish everywhere, but we only had a very short time before we had to go. We trolled lures for a few minutes without success, but next time we'll be heading straight there for sure.
