Title: Bremer Bass Trip 2
Post by: Gav on September 13, 2012, 05:46:31 PM
After the last trip couldn't wait to get back and see if it was just luck that I caught bass last week. So finished work at 1:30pm, slipped yak into the Bremer at 1:45 and headed down stream casting to the dark shadows close to the banks. Still find it hard to believe this place is so close to home and work. After casting to several spots finally hooked up to my first bass and just like last week had a great little fight to get him to the yak. At 32cm he wasn't big but what a way to spend the arvo, ten minutes later I caught my second bass at about 29cm on my favorite bassman white/purple spinnerbait. Within 45 minutes from when I left work I had two bass and felt very relaxed so i sat on the bank and had lunch.
Decided to head up stream for a paddle and a quick fish before heading and I caught my third bass which went approx 34cm. what a great way to finish the day, 3 bass (not huge I know), 10 minutes from work and I was home and packed up before 4pm. Just found a way of making the work day go quicker.

Congrats on your first bass and to get 43cm one must have been fun. I have had great little fights with the small bass I have been catching and loving it, can't wait to try and land a 43 with all the snags and yak moving around.

Cheers

Is not a half bad place is it?
I have done a few trips since open season. Mainly getting fish between 25-45cm No big ones yet this season.
Also had a sneaky session one arvo, managed 12 and 3 dropped up to 46cm in a few hours. Magic being 5 min down the road. ;D

That colour of lure is favoured by soo many bass anglers of lakes and rivers.

It is a fantastic lure. It accounted for my first bass on hard body, first yellow belly and first cod! I just love them. I am going to chuck them around for the Jacks shortly ;)

I haven't tried a hardbody yet so thanks for the tip I will give it a go when I get back from Mackay next week.

Thank you

Just work them nice and slow with a couple of twitches and slight pause every few seconds!
Oh and fish the lure all the way to your kayak, I have had them hit as I was about to lift it out of the water ;)

If anyone is fishing the Bremer on any Friday, give us a hoy. That's the day the missus and I are usually free to fish, and as we live at Bundamba, it's time we tried the Bremer. The location of good launch spots would be appreciated.
Cheers

Mate, there are two easy Bremer launch sites I know. Shapcott Park and Cribb Park. Google map them.  I think Cribb might be a little easier.

I'll be there on Friday just give me a time what time you are planning to head out, I normally launch at Shapcot some really good fishing spots up that way, I've never launched at Cribb park so I would have no idea where to fish haha.  And I'm actually heading out today if you can make it I'd be glad
