Bundamba Creek
« on: March 10, 2015, 09:44:09 AM »
Bass still run in Bundamba Creek but not like they used to in years gone past.

The creek is in the news due to construction of a new Bunnings hardware store and their need to realign the creek

Will be interesting to see what the finished creek will look like.

Ps. Bunnings already have a store in Bundamba (a site which used to be a Hardwarehouse store before the Bunnings takeover) but the land which it sits on is owned by Woolworths( the owners of the Masters chain of hardware stores). The shenanigans started when woollies wouldn't renew the lease for Bunnings to stay on their current site. Hence Bunnings bought the block down by the creek, across the road from the the school. After that, woollies sold the current Bunnings site to Harvey Norman.......what a soap opera! Bahahahahahahah.

Lived on Bundamba Creek for years as a kid. Used to have loads of Mullet running up there and always some bass around. Also caught small freshwater crabs up around the race track. Platypus were a common sight.
Broke my heart to see them put that waste of time weir near Brisbane Road & de-snag the creek to keep the local car yard happy. They thought it would make floods better, in fact it made floods worse.
Now Bunnings altering the creek more.....

Bye Bye Platypus, bass & freshwater crabs......  :OMG

Next flood everyone can sue Bunnings for damage. Oh & BTW - I wont be shopping at that Bunnings, hello Masters & Mitre 10

Might make for a easier launch site if anything
