Title: Wivenhoe Fishing Map
Post by: Capitan Morgan on January 07, 2011, 11:16:12 AM
Hi everyone, I don't know much about Wivenhoe so I have been compiling any and as much information I can find onto a Google map. Other novices like myself might also find it usefull, and some might be willing to give up some hot tips/spots I could add also :).

Awsome! I had to search "sweetwaterfishing" in the google maps under "show more search options" -> "user-submitted maps" for it to show all the 5 maps that were available(just a tip for young players). Very handy stuff, especially the QLD BASS stocked map!  :thumbsup

Are any of the location names on the wivenhoe maps water official ones? Do the authorities even name bays and the like on lakes? I think with Fitzys Flats it is safe to say it might just be a "Sweet" name to use ;) but yeh do you just make the names up for all of them?

All of the red markers are official names, some of the green are "official" with several being local names by anglers. eg Grasscutter Hill, Horse Paddock, Dead Tree Point, TIUTA Bay etc..

Same as you won't find locations at Somerset on "official" govt maps showing The Hump, Queen Street, Red Rock,  Eagles Nest, PVC Point, Bay 13, The Crossroads, Christmas Tree.... etc although most people know where they are.

Unless they are really really old, or really really new maps, most of the spots you will be looking to fish these days no one has fished for more than 5 years, (they were cow paddocks because of the drought) so its pretty much start from scratch anyway.

Just had a message asking how to find the other maps, there is no longer any "Show More Options" function available in google maps after they have done some streamlining of their systems. You can find the sweetwater maps at the following address however
Code: [Select]
