Hi Guys,
Dubbo is very close to getting it's weir a fishway, but we are getting some tuff opposition and objection to the project from a few people. Can you please click on the link and vote yes for this fish way and Carp Trap so that 135 kilometres of river will be re opened and the cod and yellowbelly can breed as they like! Many thanks, Matt Hansen (see link below for fishway)

G'Day Matt,
Happy to support the cause, however the question refers to "ratepayers paying for the cost of the fishway", by that I would assume local council ratepayers.
Personally I feel the issues of A- fishways on barriers across waterways & B- noxious fish is a state & national issue. Noting that the benefitiaries of/for the weir are most likely on a local level, then I feel there should be some financial contribution from those who utilise (and benefit from) the water storage this weir provides.
Or, if the weir isn't needed, get rid of it.
Cheers,
Fitzy..

Well said sir! You took the words out of my mouth! Collaboative effort required!
Many thanks, Matt Hansen

Job's done Poddy. I agree with Fitzy, we did all that over at Casino a while back. Fisheries just removed the weir. On the upper Tweed there is now a fishway. This happening because people are waking up. The only ones who don't agree are probably dinosoars.
