Legitimate rec fisher access to crown waterways and I'd go as far to say within grazing leasehold land (which is not meant to extinguish other legitimate users access options) - is where rec fishing peak body groups and political bodies such as the Shooters and fishers party should be expending their efforts re; maintaining and improving access rights for fishers and shooters cf. the BS campaigns targeting access to National Parks and generating 'bloody greenie lockouts' rhetoric with regard to legitimate aquatic protected area needs IMHO   :popcorn)

Let's not forget the great 300 Holland and Holland. They all rose from that, especially the Weatherby.

Scary report Fitsy, that sort of rubbish would leave a fella churned up and ruin a weekend.

Sounds like you handled it well.

A 300magnum is not the sort of thing most hunters over there would not need, It's massive overkill for goats, deer and pigs..........

l'll say.
Maybe he had a very very small willy??? Bwahahahahaaaa!!

300 Mag is a popular pig round

from 1979 to 1987 l shot literally hundreds of pigs [for sale] using 223 , 6.5swedish mauser , and a k98 mauser in 30/06 built by Petzl [?]
the 6.5 was rough as guts , cheek rest glued onto stock , brand new original barrel , Pecar scope etc.

you could almost hear the porkers sayin their prayers when the Swede was pointed out the ute window lol

ahh those were the days :)

Yes John thats him. great bloke , very stern and humourless , but an awesome gunsmith :)

i had a heavily modified Sako in 17Rem that he re-barrelled 3 times over 8yrs and once he asked me 'So why you wear out so many barrels?" and l said 'coz l shoot lots of fox and cat' and deadpan he replied 'That is many fox and cat".... funny man :)

all my light-mid calibre rifles had 28" barrels. l had a Shiloh Sharps in 45/70 with a 32" [?] barrel great fun on pigs/deer but heavy!  :)

Mate I ran across a dingo trapper in Western Australia near Murchison once who had one of those Sharps, I suggested it may be a little heavy for the dogs, and he agreed, "but the camels hate it," was all he said.
