Native fish need shelter, clean water, food and room to move. This fact sheet provides seven actions you can do to benefit native fish life in the streams on, or near your farm. When combined, these actions can improve water quality, stabilise stream banks and reduce erosion, increase farm productivity, improve farm infrastructure, reduce stock loss, promote stock health and boost the value of your farm.

In summary the seven actions are:
1. Leave large wood in your streams – it provides home for fish and protects them from predators.
2. Grow native vegetation on the stream banks – plants provide fruits, insects and other food for fish, as well as shelter and shade to keep the water at a comfortable
