Brissie River access and security
« on: August 27, 2014, 06:35:20 PM »
Hey guys I usually go to the Gold Coast to fish for bass but wanted to try my luck in the Brissie river. I have read and heard of the stories about cranky land owners and local hoons and am wondering if there is any reason to be concerned about vandalism if i left my car parked on the side of the road?

Obviously there is always some risk but if anyone knows of a well known launch site which may have less risk (or even any definite no go places) i would be interested. I fish and travel solo so I try to keep away from trouble, i hate having a knot in my stomach on the return leg awaiting to see if anyone has been mucking around near the vehicle.

Probably try Lowood/Fernvale areas come September.

Sam.

Shines Rd seems to be a popular launch site, although its quite steep. You can view it on YouTube, just key in shines road decent.
As far as the security of the place,I'm not sure mate, other kayakers would be better to answer that one.
Good luck,and tight lines.:-)

I've never had a problem with car theft or vandalism of my car at any of the spots on the mid-Brisbane River.

No matter where you go, if you see any rubbish, please pick it up & take it away. Helps other kayakers / anglers public perception with the locals.  :tick

Great habit,re-picking up rubbish.I'm only land based, but pick up any rubbish the odd, careless anglers leave behind. It gives us all a good name, and welcome back if we leave it clean/cleaner than we found it.
Keep it clean for our kids, kids.

Never had a worry with security at any location like Fitzy said, neither an issue from land owners either.

I try and stay quiet and keep a low profile. No donuts (except for the fishing :P) or spinning of tyres. Arrive quietly, fish quietly, leave quietly. Generally leave everything as I found it but happy to pick up the rubbish from some other careless person.
