Help Please – underwater camera and monitor
« on: May 17, 2012, 05:12:49 AM »
Morning All,

I’m after an underwater camera and monitor system similar to pictures below for this year’s Boyne Tannum Hookup.  I’ve found some no name Chinese brands on eBay, but can’t find a reputable brand locally (Australia) and hope you can point me in the right direction.

From the ones I found on eBay they are low resolution and was looking for something with a higher resolution.  Purpose of the camera listed below

1.   We are trying to do this on the cheap, Boyne Tannum Hookup is a volunteer organisation and if someone could sponsor they camera at a reduce price even better.
2.   To be used in saltwater, both live tank at the Hookup and the harbour/reef
3.   Want to connect to large TV so the public can view (hence higher resolution if possible)

P.S. Has anyone purchase one of these from eBay and was it any good?

Thanks for your help in advance
Earl

Hi Earl,

Try contacting these guys.  http://www.towcam.com.au/  They may step up and offer some sort of sponsorship deal for a free display stand at the Hookup.  All of the iFish underwater footage is taken on one of these.

Thanks for your help Dale,

The towcam definitely look the goods, but unfortunately way out of price range.  The only “brand” name item that I found in our price range is the Marcum VS625D from the United Sates, approx $650AUD landed in Australia.

Regards
Earl

It's always worth the offer of a contra deal Earl.  The number of people at the Hookup would make it worth their while to loan you one and put a sign up telling every one.
