Skinny Dipping

Hi all,

Just a pic of a Spinnerbait I have just bent up for some skinny water fishing this afternoon.  Should be fun!!!

Looks good Colin. 
Are you making the whole thing yourself?
I've not seen those split blades before. I'm guessing the action would be somewhere between a colorado & willow, maybe something close to a french blade.

This particular one was a re-make of an existing spinnerbait I removed the old blades, shortened the blade shaft and added a new skirt, beads and blades.  I am now in the process of making my own from bending the wire to pouring the lead and making the skirts.  I have been mucking around with a few ideas over the last few months and finally bit the bullet and ordered some molds and the additional items required to make them from go to woe.  Even messing around with an airbrush etc to paint the heads, as for the V shaped blade I am yet to see them in the water I have had them for a while now.  I figure they will be a little quieter through the water with the surface area being less (my opinon only) will report back with findings on them after I have swum it.  When I have refined the pouring and building process to a point I am willing to show them in public (hahahaha) I will post some pics.

Quick update on those V Blades, they actually have a wider wobble than a willow but different obviously to the colorado.  They in my opinion give off less vibration than both a willow or colorado, The spinnerbait pictured above was good for 1 fish and about 20 casts this morning before losing it to a snag.  That and a purple skirted spinnerbait were both donated to the same snag    ohh well thats the price I pay, atleast I was in the right area I spose.  Have attached a pic of the spinnerbait and fish in question from this morning.  I do appologise for hanging the poor thing however it was only done for photo and then released to swim again. Off to spot X tommorow for another go and a push further up stream.

Wow, thanks for the life size pic.  I'm guessing you're fishing downstream from a Stocked Impoundment?

Thanks, not sure what happened with the pic but it was huge   it must have come under the 300kb limit otherwise it wouldn't load.  As for the location I would imagine you are correct    There is a mass of jungle to climb through to get to that spot but it's worth messing with the lantanna to get there.  There is fair bit more bank to explore until I can convince the minister for finance that a Yak is can be incorporated into this years budget!!!

It only needs one look at the fish to pick the type of location.  A fat and healthy impoundment Bass, down in the river for a couple of months and it now has a shrunken belly.  Lifes tough for a lazy lake lurker when he hits the fast water and there are no easy meals.

You are spot on Dale, some seem to adapt but a lot do it hard, these are the ones that are mostly caught, always hungry.  The yellows seem to fair a lot better though not so reliant on pelagic feeding in the dam . The entrained Yellows in the same water are quite fat and currently in pre spawn condition.

I'd heard there were some Yellas in a certain stretch of water.  I'd intended to throw the yak on and visit after work last friday, but the weather turned ugly on me.

Worth a visit Dale there are too many there. Being non indiginous natives and obviously able to adapt to conditions quite well, have relocated or given them to people who eat them(by all reports very good eating) quite a large number already.
