Monduran Barra are great fun from the Kayak
« on: December 11, 2010, 11:03:21 AM »
Hi all;

1/2 a dozen of us yak fisho's decided to hit Monduran earlier this week for a 3 day camp-out and try our luck prior to the forth coming silly-season.  ::)
The weather gods where not all that kind, but we new that would only add another dimension to the challenge.  ;)
Found the morning sessions quieter then the late arvo ones ( most likely do to the fact that we didn't really do any "early" pre-dawn sessions ).
Once the sun was very low in the afternoon sky and we'd located this neat little bay where the water temp was up ( let's call it, bay X ) we began to witness those unmistakable swirls and rises that surely generates an air expectation, you know what I mean.
Bottom-line is .... 6 yakers over 3 days, boated 2 Barra ( 103 and 93cm) and managed to drop at least one good hit each. Not a great result but Hey, we all had a Ball, and shall return when the silly-season has passed.  :)

Well Done Doug! Nice fish all the same. Hope the weather improves  for all you Bundy dwellers up there soon.

Thanks for sharing your report.

Send us a PM next time you guys arrange a trip like that if you want company. Sounds like a lot of fun and fishing from a yak just adds another dimension. As you know it was something I wanted to do this year ( landing a Barra from my yak) but fishing time and work comittments has made things extra difficult this year.

I like the look of Bay X too!

Cheers Dave

Sounds like a good trip was had considering the weather and all. That arvo session in Bay X would have been fun, nerves on edge material.

Thanks for the report.  :thanks

Sel...You know Monduran is a little further "up the road" from Wivy. :P
Sorry I couldn't join you guys but as you know Doug the weather kept me home.
Great to see the awesome shots and the well deserved rewards for the guys.
Looking forward to getting up there in the new year after the silly season.

Cheers.
 :)
