Hinze Dam is not part of the SIPS. The fishing permit system for Hinze Dam is administered by the local fish stocking association.

Fishing permits are available from the following local outlets:

Doug Burt's Tackle World Gold Coast
15 Nind St Southport QLD 4215
     (07) 5531 0755
    Southport Fishing & Dive Centre
95 Gold Coast Hwy, Southport, QLD 4215
     (07) 5531 2333
    Oxenford Bait and Tackle
    147 Old Pacific Hwy
     (07) 55806851
    Sporty's Warehouse Fishing
32 Strathaird Rd, Bundall QLD 4217
     (07) 5526 2786
    Go Fishing
10 Spencer Rd, Nerang QLD 4211
     (07) 5596 4434

Above from seq water site.
Permit cost is $40 per year i think that weekly permits are alswo avail. Permit is required even if shore based fishing.
Have a look under locations on sweetwater and also on seq water site.,
I fish Hinze fairly regularly using live shrimp.
I have only been using the Western arm ramp  since the dam filled.
Both ramps are fairly steep so if you are using yaks/canoes I would advise unloading in the parking area and using a trolly to wheel down to waters edge otherwise you may damage your car when you untie your yak and it takes off due to the steep ramp.
Be careful if swimming near western ramp.
Ramp itself is covered in algae and very slippery and the water drops off quickly.
Plenty of bass on live shrimp but the banded grunter are a real pest when they move in.You know that they are there when they start nibbling the legs off your shrimp. I always move when this happens.
Also quite a few good sized tandanus there.
I have found the bass holding close to the submerged trees in around 30 feet of water. You will do a bit of gear because the fish go straight into the trees.
If you intend going to western arm give me a ring on 0403072325 and I can give you more specific locations and where to get some shrimp.
Cheers
Ray

Ray,

:GoodPost) one of the most informative/best replies to a request for fishing info ever. Most people only offer more info via PM, you went further by providing your phone number , wow.
  :Clap)

Cheers,
Dave.
