Everything is in place for a great Trout Weekend

Everything is in place, for a great Trout WeekendIFS staff have been busy this week preparing for Trout Weekend 2018.There are displays featuring the latest work by IFS, aquariums with species from our inland waters and vendors selling their wares.The ever-popular Junior Anglers Pond is stocked and ready for younger visitors to try their luck.Chef Christina Sharpe will be showing you how to whip up:Pan fried trout with tomato & basil panzanellaTrout with orange-saffron sauceTrout with almonds & parsleyPan cooked Vietnamese troutFollowing each cooking demonstration there will be free tastings for 30 people. To secure your tasting, pick up a free ticket from Inland Fisheries Service staff at the entrance.Keen angler and experienced fish smoker, Michael Wood, will be demonstrating how to smoke your own trout. He will also give tips about preparing gravlax (a Scandinavian dish of raw salmon cured with dill, salt and sugar), len-rimmad-lax (a Nordic method of wet-brining fish) and trout caviar. Michael will share his knowledge (and tasting!) between 10am and 3pm daily.The Devonport Fly Fishing Club will be on hand to give demonstrations, free lessons and advice to help you improve your fly and lure casting skills.The winners of the Tasmanian Trout Fishing Photo Competition will be announced. Forty eight people entered 181 photos. You can see all the entries at Trout Weekend.The forecast for the weekend is good by Central Plateau standards. A top of 8 degrees Celsius on both days.
