Deputy Premier Bryan Green officially launched the Mersey River Anglers Access project today (16 August 2013) at Merseylea.

Attended by representatives of the Tasmanian Community Fund, Anglers Alliance Tasmania, landowners and contributing stakeholders the opening was also attended by some keen anglers looking forward to using the new infrastructure.
Mr. Green invited anglers from across the state to experience the new facilities and access arrangements on offer across 45 km of private and public land between Latrobe and Lake Parangana.

Excellent recent rains should guarantee a great season for the Mersey River particularly as spring progresses and the prolific insect hatches for which the Mersey is renowned commence.

With high water predicted to continue bait fishing with worms in the flooded margins and backwaters is proving successful.
