SEQWater advise the following:
Controlled gate releases began from Wivenhoe Dam at 4.00pm. Release will be increased over several hours to reach a rate of about 300 cubic metres per second. Releases are expected to continue for several days, depending on rainfall.
Councils have been consulted and it is expected Twin Brides, Savages Crossing and Colleges Crossing will be impacted.
It is not expected that Kholo, Burtons, Mt Crosby or Fernvale bridges will be affected at this time.
If you are concerned about road closures or other flood impacts, you should contact your local council. River level information can be obtained from the Bureau of Meteorology website, www.bom.gov.au (http://www.bom.gov.au)

Bl@@dy idiots, the timing of the release means the water will hit Brisbane same time as the peak of the predicted rain. If you live along Oxley creek, Enogera/breakfast creek, better bung those ambulance chasing lawyers in your speed dial.

SEQWater advises that controlled gate releases began from Wivenhoe Dam yesterday at 4pm. Releases are continuing at a current rate of 400 cubic metres per second. Releases are expected to continue for several days, depending on rainfall.
Twin Bridges and Savages Crossing are currently closed, and Colleges Crossing will be closed at around 10am today. Brisbane City Council and Ipswich City Council have been notified.
Kholo, Burtons, Mt Crosby and Fernvale bridges are not impacted by the current release. However if further rainfall occurs, this may change.

Seqwater advises that controlled gate releases from Wivenhoe Dam began Friday at 4.00pm. Releases are currently being increased and are now at 1,100 cubic metres per second. Releases are expected to continue for several days.
Twin Bridges, Savages Crossing, Colleges Crossing, Burtons Bridge and Kholo Bridge are currently closed. These crossings are expected to remain closed for several days. Brisbane City Council and Ipswich City Council have been notified.
Consideration is also being given to closing Mt Crosby and Fernvale bridges, and Seqwater will be liaising with councils regarding this matter.

SEQWater Advises that controlled releases from Wivenhoe Dam re-commenced from 12 noon today at a rate of 50 cubic metres per second. This release rate will be slowly increased as flows through the Brisbane River subside.
The gates are being opened again to allow the substantial volume of flood water stored in Wivenhoe Dam and Somerset Dam to be drained in a controlled way which minimises flood impacts. It is expected that these releases will last for approximately seven days to drain the stored flood water and return the dams to their full supply levels.
Twin Bridges, Savages Crossing, Colleges Crossing, Burtons Bridge, Kholo Bridge and Mt Crosby Weir Bridge are currently closed. Fernvale Bridge and the Brisbane Valley Highway are now open and the Mt Crosby Weir Bridge should open later today or tonight.
The drain-down releases from Wivenhoe Dam combined with downstream inflows will most likely keep Twin Bridges, Savages Crossing, Colleges Crossing, Burtons Bridge and Kholo Bridge closed for the next seven days.

In hindsight, it looks like the bl@@dy idiots did a pretty good job of averting a major flood in Brisbane and Ipswich.

Flood operations at Wivenhoe Dam have now ceased. Wivenhoe Dam lake level at 10:00 today was EL 65.77 metres (89%) and falling.
Elevated operational releases will be required until at least Saturday to manage water quality issues impacting the Mt Crosby Water Treatment Plant. These elevated releases will continue to inundate Twin Bridges.
The following expected bridge impacts are dependent on no further significant rainfall occurring:
• Savages Crossing is currently closed, but should be clear of water later today.
• Colleges Crossing is currently clear of water but not yet open to traffic.
• Twin Bridges is currently closed and is unlikely to open before Saturday. Elevated releases are needed at least until then to manage the water quality issues at the Mt Crosby Water Treatment Plant.
Please contact your local council for detailed information on current road and crossing closures.
This flood event is now declared closed. No significant rainfall is currently forecast over the next 7 days. Forecast rainfall advice from the Bureau continues to be monitored closely.

I drove past Lake Wivenhoe today. There is a distinct dirty water line in front of the dam wall. Probably indicated the current line where the dirty water from upstream moves through the lake. The top of the lake looks dirty as well.
The river upstream is still flowing but clearing up. If anyone is looking to paddle the upper Brisbane River, now is a great time as the upper brisbane is often quite shallow, a bit of a flow makes things alot easier.
Don't both with Gregors Creek Road, the road is closed. Best to go from Scrubb Creek Road (bridge) to Fulham Rd (bridge) or the longer Fulham Rd (bridge) to O'Shea's Crossing.

From dam operators today
Flood releases from Wivenhoe Dam have now concluded and the dam is at 88 per cent capacity. Operational releases will be undertaken to maintain the dam near the full supply level. These releases will not adversely impact downstream bridges.
Burtons Bridge and Kholo Bridge should now be clear of water. Savages Crossing and Twin Bridges may not be clear of water until later today or tomorrow due to continuing flows into the Brisbane River from Lockyer Creek. Colleges Crossing is expected to be clear of water early tomorrow morning.
Once clear of water, each bridge will be reopened by the responsible authority when the bridge is safe for use. Please contact your local council for further details on road and crossing closures.
fingers crossed there are no more rain events in the short term and no need to pour more water down the drain. Give it a week or two & I'll be going chucking lures at some gorgey country for some big girls who pick the good spots as the music stops and they all settle down.
