Harpeng Rd Locked (Topic Solved)
« on: December 30, 2014, 05:30:00 AM »
What the hell! Went to launch from Harpeng Rd this morning only to find the gate locked. Anyone have any ideas? I felt like just lifting the yak over the top, but didn't want to stir up trouble. Bolt cutters would have been nice!!
Not happy Jan! Looks like I'm off to shines.

Chain was locked with a padlock. I wonder if old mate is up to his old tricks again? If so, he really has a chip on his shoulder. Didn't the council tell him to pull his head in last time?

And it is locked,

Had wife and kid with me so couldn't do much (she is such a non confronting killjoy)

Will try to get back there before the weekend to cut it off.  If someone gets there before me please advise.

More concerning is the hyacinth that in the river. Saw from Twinnies all the way down to  Mt Crosby weir. Hasn't got to colleges as yet. Any ideas? Spill from?

Been coming out of the Lockyer for some time Steve. It's not hyacinth but a similar sort of floating cabbage type stuff.

 Elops will know.  :popcorn)

I paddled from Savages Crossing to Burtons Bridge yesterday. That water lettuce is all the way through that section, lots of it too. Didn't fish much, but only got one bump from the few casts I did have.

Has anyone been to Harpeng Rd over the last couple days to see if the lock has been removed? Thinking about heading out there over the weekend but don't want to have to make another detour like the other day.

Supercheap sell bolt cutters for under $30.

Dunno why the council don't just remove the gate and the section of fence. Fix it for good.

Yeah. Good call Binder! I might get a set and keep em in the ute for just such an occasion.

Council won't do it because farmer is a rate payer and a voter.  Pun il really don't care about visiting fishers.  Everyone who is annoyed by this needs to write to the Council.  Don't just leave it up to a couple of people to do it again.

The Mayor has told a lot of people to do things that would get them jailed, sadly, the Mayor is nobody, all decisions have to be approved by the CEO, and from what I've seen of him and his right hand man, I won't hold my breath.  One example is a Somerset resident who was told by the Mayr during a Press day to fix an access road damaged by the floods and give the bill to Councl.  The poor bugger did that and the CEO knocked it back, in Court it was decided the Mayor shoulnt have told the farmer to do it, and the farmer had to foot the bill himself.

Was going to go through Fervale today. Thought I would do a drive by past Harpeng to have a look. Packed the cordless grinder and cutting disc.

Didn't need to use it. No lock on gate. One person using the area with a white ute.
