Late season Mid- Brisbane River report
« on: May 16, 2012, 03:28:54 PM »
Fished the Mid Brisbane River yesterday with Wayne & Clint from Mullet Gut Marine yesterday.

I scrounged around and got them a couple of kayaks to fish from and the lads were happy as a cod in a snag pile. One was a demo of the new Ocean Kayak Tetra 12 angler which will be in Australia soon. My turn to test drive it later this week chasing cod....  ;)

Launched at Harpeng Road (now nicknamed Hollywood due to the paparazzi up on the hill taking photos) & paddled upstream.

Fished our way up almost to Heart Attack Hill where we met Dave who had fished from the Junction upstream earlier in the day.

Biggest bass was 55cm taken by Clint on a bassman black chrome spinnerbait, biggest yellowbelly was 60cm taken by Wayne (cant remember what he got it on)

Clint got destroyed on a spinnerbait that left a shredded leader & him scratching his head.

Fish were caught on a mixture of  floating and suspending hard body lures, spinnerbaits (both single and double bladers).

My best was a 53cm taken on a white flats roller, but most of mine came on purple hard body, at one stage I got 3 from 3 casts.

Met a couple of lads from the northside who came over the mountains to fish the Brissy, they caught several early by trolling the middle of the river. Biggest I think they said was around 53cm.

Only a couple of weeks to go before the bass season closes.

Good session Fitzy, it's blowing about 26km/h up here at Lucinda so poking around further up the creeks. Got a nice Jack a couple of days back and buried by something unidentified.
