UPPER BRISBANE RIVER
« on: February 01, 2012, 07:08:16 PM »
I am going to try the Bris river in the reaches above Lindville in the next few weeks.

I dont think it has ever been stocked so I am wondering what I could expect to find.   Some of the original natives and a few imports I suppose.

It was really scoured out 12 months ago.  A disaster zone.  I am taking the Fly Rod and light Spinning gear so if anybody has any knowledge on the area I would appreciate any tips.

Thanks, BG

Be kind to the Natives.

The stocking group at Yarraman stock Cooyar Creek . Also fish can easily migrate upstream from Wivenhoe while the river has some baseline flow in it .

Upstream of Linville , there are heaps of low level crossings/causeways which are great launching points for canoes or kayaks .

I have tried the section just below the junction of Cooyar creek and the Brisbane . Good looking fish habitat , saw plenty of Eel-tailed catties and Lungfish . Only landed the one Bass . Here's the map of where I put my yak in.

Cheers,
Dave.

I had access to cooyar creek and caught some nice fish but since the floods i think alot of the fish have gone down stream from where i've fished so think ya may be in with a good chance down there where it meets the brisbane. Never massive bass but up to about 40cm and yellas around the same. Know some blokes who have fished around linville and caught alot of cattys.
Best of luck.

Thanks for that fellas, I will take the Kayak.

Beautiful country that, doesn't matter if you catch a fish or not, hey.
