Baroon Pocket
« on: November 10, 2012, 12:21:06 PM »
Had to get up to the dam, my shrimp traps had not been emptied for nearly a month, so  I figured they needed rebaiting, and the forecast was crappy for the yak, so took the boat.

When I got there looked like someone had pulled the plug on the dam, I reckon it has dropped about 15 foot since I was last up there less than a month ago! The sunshine coast mob obviously dont believe in 4 minute showers!

2 of my pots were dry, two were still just in the water, even had dozen or so shrimp in them.

So setup and had a nice relaxing session soaking some bait. Weather was perfect, the odd drizzle, but mostly glassed out. did not even have to drop the anchor to stay at the right depth.

Also I reckon I have caught this catfish and probably his mate at least 3 times in the last 6 months, maybe more - he has a unique pattern of scars on his tail. Always catch a dark one and a light one in that spot just about every trip. Think he would have learned by now!

Most bass around the 40 mark, biggest 47cm.
When the wind started up, even though it was gentle,  I figured it was time to go, the forecast was for it to come through quick and hard, so didn't want to hang around until it got uncomfortable and be trying to load the boat in 30 knots!

Is the water still like green pea soup?
Noticed that all the dams that I go to now SEQ water have removed the signs that used to incicate the algae level and replaced with generic signs warning algae may be present.
With the lower water level reckon the lazy buggers will again start parking beside the ramp onstead of walking up the hill .
 Nice healthy looking fish.

 Cheers
Ray
