Has anyone used a Whipella ??
« on: April 27, 2012, 12:53:10 PM »
Has anyone use a Whipella before ?

I was searching online for an alternative to electric motors as I had heard about a kit available to convert a brushcutter/whipper snipper into an outboard.
This came up in the search results.

This kit allows you to use you brushcutter/whipper snipper as an outboard & when you are finished reattach the brushcutter head to then use in your garden

I sent an email to enquire & received this as a reply:

 Gooday Graeme
Please find pics of my new aluminium whippella this will fit the better bent shafts and straight ones and has a seal in it retail $149.00 + postage $15.00
 Happy to answer any questions

 Regards Bobby Allen

Just received an email from Whipella.

My whippella prop unit is made to fit all w/snippers in having said that if you get into some of the bigger H.P. ones it is possible you would have to change the pitch of the prop a bit

we have one doing about 12knts bit over half revs Also depends on the shape of your craft ???

4 strokes allow you into National Parks in most states.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please find pic of my transom mount these are now sold as a seperate unit

 $59.00
Colour is not correct but shape and function are current

Some like to make there own or use rope or wire thats why it,s no longer sold as a kit.

I reckon the noise would drive you and everyone around you crazy.
Would be OK with an electric one on the electric lakes, but you'd need a really, really long extension lead.

The noise wouldn't be worse than some outboards I have heard.

Maybe use the Whipella to get where you want to go then use an electric motor to putt around the area you want to fish.
I live near Lenthalls Dam.
That is why I was looking for alternatives to an electric.
Would take forever to look around Lenthalls with an electric motor.

Quote "We have one doing about 12knts bit over half revs Also depends on the shape of your craft."

With a large cc brushcutter & Whipella attached, a flat bottom punt should motor along pretty well ??

I have included pictures of Lenthalls Dam on a map I have to give you an idea of its actual size.

I've fished Lenthall's so I know how big it is.  I'd like to see this boat doing 12 knots with a Whipper Snipper motor.  I've got a 4 stroke and a 2 stroke WS and there is no way, no how that they are quieter than any modern outboard.  This contraption sort of reminds me of the old Victa Jet set up of the '60's.

How would the missus do the lawns while you were out fishing if you took the whipper snipper?

She's either get creative or wait until you got home with a wet whipper snipper.
