Yet another Wivenhoe arvo run
« on: August 25, 2013, 07:30:15 PM »
Launched at Logan's Inlet this arvo, and, after waiting for some fellow clear the ramp we pushed the tinnie out, dropped the minn kota bow mount in & headed off. Within 20 meters the fellow that had just pulled his Hobie AI out on the trailer yells out "HEY YOU, YOU CAN'T RUN OUTBOARD MOTORS ON HERE". To which I promptly replied, "TAKE A LOOK AT THE F$%KING ELECTRIC MOTOR ON THE FRONT IDIOT". That seemed to shut him up, well I didn't hear any more from the nosey Hobie owner as we silently headed out towards the mouth of the bay....

Any how, that aside, while we motored out of the bay at a bit over 4km/h I rigged a couple of lures to troll our way while looking for fish. There were plenty of fish showing in just under the thermocline at about 23 feet. By the time we were in front of Lumley Hill camp ground Felicity's rod bucked and she boated a lovely 45cm Golden Perch (First pic - See camp ground in back ground). Knowing there were plenty more there so we kept heading out of the bay.
The ridge line on the left of the bay mouth (an old favourite spot) showed some good arches on both sides of the drop. Out on the open water the lake was a glass out (third picture) . We ducked around the corner to TIUTA Bay for quick look & it lived up to its name, not much in the bay but a lot of arches showing in the thermals out in the river channel. We turned around ran the sounder over the flats to the east of Pelican Island. There was some nice shows in around 28 - 35 feet around the contour. The breeze started to pick up & the sun was angling down so we headed back into the bay. Picked up some nice shows onside the bay mouth, picking up a couple of nice mid 40s bass in great condition on a Garra Lure - Maloo (see 2nd picture) .

A couple of hours well spent, we were off the water well before dark.

Water clarity is great.
Water temp is almost 22 degrees C
Lake level is 100%

Both camp grounds are looking well maintained.

Should be some good fish caught at the Wivenhoe Comp in a couple of weeks.

Nice stuff Garry (and Flic); it's looking good for the Classic.
Good to see the Gara's firing as well.
