Freshwater spots around Tin Can/ Cooloola NP
« on: April 26, 2011, 07:38:15 PM »
Hi guys

I am heading up the North Coast for a few days and wondering if anyone has any experience or knows of a  few freshwater spots to fish around the Rainbow Beach/ Tin Can bay area.  Will be fishing the beach, but have noticed a few of the cricks look fishy.

Any help much appreciated.

There's plenty of spots up that way Cam in which I'm hoping to explore soon. A few good mates were up that way over the weekend in some most unlikely spots and got onto some good Bass.

Use Nearmap and Google Earth and go explore the area, makes the adventure even more sweeter when you come up trumps. I wish I could be more help.

Good luck!

Exploring the forrestry in a 4x4 will turn up some nice sweetwater spots.

Note - Coondoo Creek is a total not fish zone so please leave that off your list.

North of Tin Can there is some creeks inside the green zone so make sure you get a map & check where & where you can't fish.

I read the map wrong just after the green zone was put into place & went into the wrong creek, was lucky not to get fined. A GPS definately helps.

Cheers,

fitz..

I live in the area and my farm backs onto Tinana ck.  The mid section contain most natives and will take a map and 4wd to find the holes.  The creeks Fitzy mention have been our target over the last few months.  Some of the upper reaches are green zones and others are navigable only on high tide (but worth it!).  Other options would be the upper reaches of the noosa river for bass.

Thanks for the advice guys - have been spending a little bit of time on google maps, but will definitely be checking where the green zones are.  Cheers :thumbsup
