Title: Dumaresq River near Glen Lyon 17.6.17
Post by: Novice on June 18, 2017, 10:52:42 PM
Met up with a few of the mates down on the Dumaresq near Glen Lyon again over the weekend. Left home on Friday at lunchtime, picked up my friend Todd on the way and met up with WayneD (who was already out on the river) near where we had planned to fish.

Upon catching up with Wayne, we were informed of his bucket list accomplishment of already landing a metery Cod that afternoon. Photos and video were viewed of that catch and we were keen to hit the water ourselves. But alas, things were a little quiet and only 2 smallish cod were landed by 9pm and it was getting cold.

During the night another of the crew arrived and in the morning old Jeff also put in an appearance. Keen to get into it, all five of us hit the water. Wayne had made an early start (well before I got out of bed) and had notched up 4 cod.

Once out of the main hole near camp, the snag structure impoved.

And we started to land some fish.

Wayne needed to get home and planned to bail at lunch. Jeff left too as he was lacking some mojo/enthusiasm leaving just the three of us to press on downstream.

The fish became regular after that. On spinnerbaits, hardbodies and surface.

The favourite snag of the day.

A total of four cod were landed from it.

We all changed over to surface for the way back to camp, which accounted for another six cod between the three of us.

Overall, 32 cod were landed from this section of river, all between 500-600mm. Good times had by all. Thanks for reading.

Cheers,
Dave.

Fantastic, and a magic part of the country. Good to see even with all the flogging that area gets the Cod keep eating.
