Title: Hinze Dam
Post by: Lukefly on May 11, 2012, 10:28:12 AM
Hi All,

I recently went kayak fishing in Hinze Dam, and had no success. Is it still worth fishing there as it continues to get colder? Can you anyone give me some tips as to what techniques I should use be using?

Cheers
Luke

Maybe they are starting to school up in the deeper water.  Try getting your sounder out and look for the schools in deeper water.  You could use IceJigs or blades to get down to them.

Cheers

Hi there  :D

Hinze Dam can be tricky at times, especially coming into the cooler months. I have had success with deep diving crank baits (3 - 5 metre divers), something in the RMG Poltergeist/Scorpion range works well. Blades have given results as well, try using bright green ones if you can find them.

Good luck and have fun!

Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I tried two 8m diving RMG Poltergeist (approx. 60mm long), one purple and the other was gold. Also tried a lure that was similar to a 3m diving RMG scorpion. And I also tried various coloured spinner baits. I tried trolling, as well as casting to the abundance of trees. But I had no luck.

Maybe give some Squidgies a go, that S-Factor they have in the Pro-range is awesome.  :youbeauty

I had a few squidies with me, I was going to use them for jigging if I found a school of bass on my sounder, but did not find any schooling bass.
