Dumaresq River 18.2.17 @Texas
« on: February 25, 2017, 08:54:48 AM »
Last weekend the plan was for me to pick up a mate from Kalbar on Friday night, head out to Texas for a quick late night surface session on the cod before my mate from Sydney arrives early on the Saturday morning.

Some decent thunder storms greeted us once were we on the downs and they continued off and on throughout the night. Setting up tents and stuff is always fun in the rain :)

A sunny morning greeted us and the temperature quickly rose on the back of a strong north westerly breeze. We ended up wasting away the morning wallowing in the river having a few cold beverages.

After lunch we launched the yaks ready for an arvo/night session.

Seemed like it was going to be a hot bite as it wasn't long before I had my first.

But it wasn't to be. Just very little action from some very worthy looking snags.

After awhile, one even gets excited over a Yellow belly.

You know, we've all been there.

My second and last cod before the next round of storms arrived.

With the radar showing a substantial line of slow moving storms coming down on the NW feed, we bailed, packed up camp and headed for home. Drove through rain most of the way. Worst part was, I thought ,"Cool, at least the house tanks are going to get a top up." But at home the rain barely wet the ground. Bugger.

Thanks for reading.
Cheers,
Dave.

Gibraltar reserve.

Grab a copy of the Texas tourist pamphlet, it has a mud map of all the reserves and camping spots for the area.
