Title: Lake Sambell
Post by: aussiebasser on December 08, 2015, 09:10:32 AM
In the heart of Beechworth in Victoria is Lake Sambell.  One of only two lakes where it is now legal to target and keep Trout Cod.  The other is Lake Kerferd, also in Beechworth.  Sambell is a pretty little lake, coincidently where I leaned to water ski 50+ years ago.

The history and rules are posted.

In my humble opinion, Queensland would do well to mimic Victoria in this with our own endangered Mary River Cod.  A dedicated dam, or two, where recreational anglers and target and keep a Mary River Cod to stop people chasing them in their natural habitat during breeding season.  Wyaralong and Ewen Maddock would be prime candidates for saturation stocking and legal fishing.
