Title: Some Very Sweet Water
Post by: Mackerel Whisperer on October 10, 2010, 07:19:35 PM
I thought I would share a few snaps of a local creek on private property I have access too. I haven't fished it much, besides throwing a few lures from the bank a few times with no success. I plan to give this a good going over once I get my kayak. It really is paradise.

Hope you enjoy the snaps.

Cheers

Nice looking water there..... Is there a tidal influence to that creek? Screams fish... Too far north for Bass, too far south for Sooties, if its connected to the rustwater there could be Jacks or Junglies there....  :thumbsup

No tide Fitzy. Its sort of the western version of Waterpark Creek or Stoney Creek. Comes out of the Byfield Mtns somewhere and comes to the west and eventually into the fresh end of the Fitzroy River I guess. I reckon there would probably be Sooties in there, We get Sooties down the end of my road in Alligator Creek.

Ok, I didn't know the Sooties had come down that far down the MacKenzie into the Fitzroy as yet. I kind of thought they might stop at the muddier water of the MacKenzie & not venture into the Fitzroy. That being the case, they'll slowly work their way up the Dawson & Nagoa arms & end up system wide. Been fishing the sooties up the Connors River / Funnel Creek end since I was a kid. That's where they started in the system when they were introduced years back.

Do you get any saratoga in Alligator Creek? I've stopped there alot when driving past, often wondered if they're there. Recon they should be...

I haven't caught any togas in Alligator Creek YET mate. But like you I reckon they would be there. It's just a matter of time. I know there is alot of Barra in there.
