Cania trip
« on: July 19, 2011, 07:30:39 PM »
Planning a boy’s  fishing trip to Cania 11th (late) to 14th August, so if you’re in the area come over and say hi, don’t just wave because I’m as blind as a welders dog.  My boat is a 4.2m Seajay side console called “Wife Swap”.

Has anyone fished Cania recently and did you do any good? Will be as cold as a nun’s nasty

Will post result when we get back

Regards
Earl

Just spat my rum all over the laptop Earl, your boat name is a cracker. Good luck with the trip, Cania is a top spot.

Cheers Andrew

Hi Earl was there last weekend, there was an ABT comp.  You would have be able to catch bass from the bank at the ramp on the weekend. The bank to the right of ramp was  good in late afternoon. Some bass were caught on surface in the morning so it would be worth a try , but small blades & ice jigs were the prefered.  Seemed to be tough fishing during the day as schools were not responding.  A couple of toga were captured also.
Didn't really want to come home loved it !

Thanks Denis,

Heard a couple of reports from last weekend, the bass have schooled up in the main basin and ice jigs and blades were the go.

Boats packed and weather’s looking good, minimums of 2-4 degrees and a pleasant 22-26 during the day.

Thanks
Earl

Cania has been fishing a little slow, caught a nice yellow, a couple of bass and dropped a few.  Was colder than a nuns nasty this morning, was below zero at camp (5am) and while travelling across the dam ice formed on our jackets, currently sitting in the sun while typing this trying to defrost my toes and ears.

Found a couple of schools of bass around the main basin, but they didn’t want to play, chucked, blades, ice jig, spinner baits etc.  All fish where caught mid-morning while casting bassman spinner baits to the edges.

Watched a bird have a sh%t house start to it’s day, when a hawk dive bombed it and there was a loud swoosh followed by a thwack and a puff of feathers.   A few minutes later there was a sprinkling of feathers all around the boat.  Time to head out for an afternoon session.

Regards
Earl
