Title: Yabbies.....GAZILLIONS!!!
Post by: Toddy on July 31, 2011, 05:32:31 PM
 Got this from a mate....................

Photos of Yabbies covering the ground alongside Cooper Creek Nth of Ballera.
Apparently they are either feeding at night, or the water they are living in is shrinking, so nowhere to live, anyhow they are collecting them with broad mouth shovels, no net needed, most are bigger than  a "Red Bull" can in length

I'll bet the birds were getting fat! I've seen big yabbie times out on the Bulloo River near Thargoimindah but nothing like that. After a lot of water comes down the Bulloo out there you can sometimes scoop 'em up with a prawn net, which is what a lot of the locals do. Cold beer and yabbies, it don't get much better than that.
