Title: Rod Repairs Ipswich Area
Post by: Craidon69 on November 23, 2013, 02:25:26 PM
Hi Guys,

Anyone have an idea as to the cost to get a new tip put on a rod? Buought a brand new 7' Pflueger Trion spin rod a week ago, just put a reel on it and threaded the braid thru, loaded the tip for the first time, and snapped 8 inches of tip off! Not happy must have been cracked in the first place.

Now need to get a new tip fitted. Is it worth it?

Cheers

Happens a lot if you overbend the tip.  Having the rod vertical and pulling the end of the line will di it to a carbon rod with very little pressure.  Charltons will put a new tip on it for you.

Thanks Basser,

No I put my rods in a angled holder on the bench for when I'm spooling reels, so the rod was being loaded properly. Any way have to go see the guys to get it fixed.

8 inches is a lot taken off, the boys at Charlton's will certainly put a new tip on it for you but the rod won't be the same and you may find yourself wanting a newy anyway  :-\
