Hinze Dam Frustrations
« on: May 28, 2015, 02:05:25 PM »
Am I just becoming a crank old man, or is anybody else frustrated at the Hinze Dam not being a part of the SIP system?. Not for one moment do I mind paying for permits, but as long as the system is fair. Living on the Gold Coast, I have to have 3 fishing permits, namely a SIP, which covers just about every other dam in Queensland (except Hinze), a NSW Fishing "Receipt" in case I want to drive 20 minutes to go fish near that mob that keep losing State of Origin, and then get stung again to fish Hinze Dam. Is this just a cash grab, or SEQ Waters bumbling bureaucracy, Gold Coast Council's arrogance, or what? I have been told for the last two years that an "Application has been submitted", but I think this is just the standard lie we are being fed.

Anybody have any notions (apart from me becoming a cranky old man)

 :thanks

The fishing permits for Hinze have nothing to do with SEQ water.
The permit scheme is run by the stocking association and ALL monies raised go back into stocking.
The SIP scheme has nothing to do with Seq water and is run by the state government who cream off a percentage to run the scheme.
There are quite a few stocking groups who have been waiting to get on the SIP scheme for years.
I have no idea if the Hinze stocking group will continue to sell permits if Hinze dam gets on the SIP scheme . It is possible that you may need 2 permits to fish there.
I currently have a sip permit to allow me to fish all SIP waters plus a permit to fish Hinze and also a boating access permit to fish North Pine Dam where also all monies raised are used to stock the dam by the PRFMA.

I personally think Hinze Dam having it's own fishing "permit" (good luck getting that to stick in court for non-compliance BTW) is silly.

IMHO droping the local council permit & joining the SIP is the obvious solution to provide a consistent approach to impoundment fishing in Qld which will without a doubt save confusion & frustration for the angling public both local & tourists. as described in the original post.

probably got as much chance of getting on the SIP as they do of making that fine stick! It is pretty obvious they just ignore any applications.
