Cressbrook Dam closed to the public; Cooby Dam re-opens February 25

Cressbrook Dam remains closed to all public access until further notice.

Toowoomba Regional Council closed the dam to all recreational users on Tuesday, February 14 when water flowed over the spillway following rain in the catchment.

Council activated requirements of its Emergency Action Plan Cressbrook Dam and Perseverance Dam, which prohibits all public access when water over the spillway at Cressbrook Dam exceeds 100mm.

Cressbrook Dam continues to spill and council is reviewing the situation daily.

The potential for further inflows from rain forecast for the weekend has prompted council to keep Cressbrook Dam closed to the public.

Recreational users can return to Loveday Cove at Cooby Dam from tomorrow (Saturday, February 25) as E.Coli bacteria samples have returned to safe levels.

Cooby Dam is safe to use for all water activities. The boat ramp will be open tomorrow.

Cooby Dam wall picnic area remains closed due to damage suffered during the 2011 flooding.

Perseverance Dam is closed for all water activities until further notice.
