Lake Clarendon is once again open to kayak / canoe access :Clap)
Took the family for a padle there the day after access was restored. There were a couple of Seqwater Compliance Officers on site to check everyone was behaving & there were no issues. Nice people, possibly a waste of wages / resrources IMHO as they're powerless to do anything if there is issues. Anyhow, they were very friendly.
Have set up a picture gallery with over 80 pictures at http://www.sweetwaterfishing.com.au/Forum/index.php?action=gallery;cat=88 (http://www.sweetwaterfishing.com.au/Forum/index.php?action=gallery;cat=88)
There's some great structure for fish and birds in Lake Clarendon. Size wise, it was an gentle 2 hour paddle to circumnavigate the lake.
Feedback. While it is great to see access restore to this lake, the new gate was put in at the same location as the old gate (that was locked for years). It would have made alot of sense to move the gate the 50 - 60 meters west in the recreation area which would have made it far less distance to carry / drag kayaks & canoes to the water. It would have cost the same no matter where the gate was located. In it's current location, you will need to COD (carry or drag) approx 100+ meters to the water negotiating the gully and dam between the gate and the nearest part of the lake.

Does any stocking group have an interest in the lake or is it a waste of time due to its fluctuating levels?
Cheers

I think it's the Lockyer Valley guys. It was removed from the SIP Scheme in 2012 so I'm not sure if anything still goes in.

No current management plan ?, couple of Lockyer group members on here maybe they would add some info ?

Being an off steam storage, it suffers from being drawn down to zero. I remember sun water having concerns about fish dying in these types of impoundments. Same with Atkinsons Dam.
Anyhow, if nothing else its a nice spot to go for a paddle around Gatton considering access has recently been removed from some weirs in the area; Brightview and Jordan's weirs that I know of.

Was just about to ask is it worth fishing but apparently not, hopefully someone jumps on board and puts afew in there.

Are electric motors allowed.

Msg anyone :Hunting)

No point, chances are it'll be empty before the fish are big enough to target. Similar to Atkinson's Dam.
