Went for a flick in the arvo heat for some bass got a few and ended up with another mary

Thats as far as it got out of water.

With my quest for a Toga now complete I wanna try to get a Cod now as I have never got one before.  Would that have been stocked in a dam and escaped or naturally occuring.  Either way I'm jealous  lol   :thumbsup

If you are going to target them Id say try the stocked dams, I was only fishing for bass mate

Apart from the stocked impoundments, Mary River Cod are totally protected.  That said, there is nothing wrong with targetting Bass and getting some bycatch.  There are plenty doing it, and one more wont tip the balance.  Trying to target them in a stocked impoundment is pretty pointless.  Your best bet is to go Bass fishing in the Mary River.  Check out a few spots on Google Maps around Tiaro and find an access point.

OK.  I knew that they were no take but not that you couldn't target. Doh!!! NP dam has stocked them(not huge numbers) but they are a very rare catch indeed.

Will continue to catch bass and maybe get a cod if I go to the right area.  O:-)
