Dumaresq River report
« on: May 19, 2013, 01:40:17 AM »
Fished the Dumaresq River today with Novice and another mate Steve Wheelbarrow

Between us we landed zip. Had one rat cod released next to the canoe and that was about it.

Water clear and very cold with just a normal flow. Cod just didn't want to come out & play today.... that's fishing.

Yeah

no idea whats the go is at the moment.

You really have to harrass the sh!t out of them to get a bite.

Bloody hard work when i was down there 3 weeks ago, though my sholder was gunna fall off for the amount of casting that I did.

But thats the way it rolls. Still had a brilliant time but.

3 weeks ago, over a 5 day period 38 were caught between a few of us. But again, had to harrass them for a bite. Biggest went 89 I think..

Well after rolling a doughnut on Saturday with Fitzy and Steve, I still had the urge to get a cod. Ended up down Texas way on Sunday and found a few down there. The water temp was still quite icy and the fish took a heap of hassling to take lures. Only landed the 1 legal sized , all fish released. The water clarity was unbelievable. Took a couple of pics.

The green and black Garra Tera did the damage for me today.

Cheers,
Dave.

When I get back from up north there's Cod fishing trip on the books for about 4 days on the Dumaresq. Looks like the river needs a bit of a fresh in it. Any releases from Glen Lyon resently?

No flow out of Glenlyon. Only being fed by what is coming out of the Severn and Mole Rivers.
