Stumpy at NPD
« on: September 24, 2010, 04:54:36 PM »

Ended not going to Hinze as rain was forecast and I was doubtfull how my 2wd ute would handle the Eastern arm access road in the wet so back to NPD for another enjoyable day.
There is a lot of bird activity there at the moment.I saw 3 seperate large flocks this morning.

I got up close to where this one was working and wasted my time throwing spinner baits and small slugs plus a troll through them.Saw a few small dead boneys where they were working but nothing below them.
Bit unusual because last year the bass were hanging around the flocks.

Caught onother stumpy.

Ended up with 8 bass and one tandanus.
This was the best bass of the day with all the others just above 40 with the exception of the stumpy.
This one sporting an old battle scar. May have been one that was returned from below the dam wall.

Plus the normal feed of redclaw.
Recently I have been marinating them in soy and then smoking them . Excellent.

Cheers
Ray

Nice work young fella!

Sounds like you had a great day out on the water.

That stumpy fish has a good hump like a yella in front of it's dorsel fin.

I'd love to get down there to have a look at the lake one day. This is where I grew up as a young tacker, terrorising the place. I can remember riding my 3 speed Malven Star bike, rods in some home made rocket launches tied on with wire to the lay back seat. We only got tandens back then in the lake and if we got a Bass it was like Christmas and Youngs Crossing was for jumping out of trees in the water hole along with the rope swing. The lake is in good hands now with the hard work from the stocking group.

Well done mate!

Cheers Dave
