Lake Macdonald and Ewen Maddock both have populations of eel tail catties in residence.

Not sure of numbers, they are generally bycatch I try to avoid.
So I usually fish with paternosters off the bottom if bait fishing.
They are a species that adapts very well to dams, and take quite a bit of fishing pressure without a problem (I was in Kilcoy fishing club, the eel tails are one of the locals main target species, and they would take large numbers of them without ever seeming to dent the population)

If you want to catch them worms or live shrimp right on the bottom will generally do the job. They will also take a lure, particularly if nesting. Be warned this will also catch you tilapia in Ewen Maddock, a pest species, that whilst very good eating. your not allowed to keep.
