Weird lookin' Bass
« on: July 08, 2013, 06:53:41 AM »
I got to spend a day fishing in the South China Sea at Kuala Rompin in Malaysia with Pam.  Their water tastes funny and the long nosed, high finned, leaping Bass are a bit different to our Bass.  This is the result of a double hook-up.

Dale

I fish because the little voices in my head tell me to.

They were schooling in about 20'.  Pam's livie went off, and I grabbed my rod to clear the area and it went off, and the two fish were jumping together and a third free jumper joined in.  At one stage Pam's fish jumped over my line.  I think we were pretty lucky to land them both.  The conditions weren't right for fly fishing, with about 0 visibility in the water and rough conditions.

Freshwater sailfish! That's very unusual.

Dead set Dale you're a goose!

They're Macquaria Istiophorus Leichardti, northern species I think.
