So the new permit scheme came into play as of today. Looking back at some historical numbers as below and making a few assumptions at the end.

The current new costs are as follows
Permits cost:
$10.00 per week
$50.00 per year
$36.00 per year if you are entitled to a discount
Now the variables to the recent years is that your spouse no longer can reside under your name and fee paid. So it will be interesting to see what the numbers do and how the values change.
Interestingly the number has decreased in 2014 / 2015 year. I believe that the number will spike this term just gone 2015 / 2016 as people would have pre purchased for the 2016 / 2017 year. But the numbers will tell. So to me I would believe we probably need to wait till the 2017/2018 year to see how the new scheme is actually going.
But if we applied the numbers to the 2014/2015 year and used the new fee value how does that look.
32,205 weeklys @ $10 $ 322,050
13023 yearlys @ $50 $ 651,150
3,994 discount @ $36 $ 143,784
Total new fee structure $ 1,116,984 vs old structure value $ 918,350
So will the $ 198,634 make a difference? We now have 63 stocked impoundments to share the cost with and remember that admin fees are going to be 25% before sharing of funds.
Interesting times ahead.

Worthy of consideration is that more people may now be inclined to buy a permit and go to a local dam given that there are now more impoundments to choose from. Also, many of those previous permits would've covered two people. Now, each adult is required to purchase their own. I think there will be quite a bit of extra cash to go around. Wishful thinking?

The most interesting thing is that I believe that they have still not worked out a formula on how each impoundment will be assessed as quite a few of the new waters are weirs in river systems so how do you measure the surface area.
It would appear to me that there is a strong possibility that the stocking assns on the original scheme will now receive lesser funding unless the previous RFEP is brought back into play.

I just went through the purchasing process to check something. It seems that the area to check a preference for an impoundment to receive your funds is no longer there. How will they divide up the funds next year?

Yet to be determined.......

A quick calculation tells me that 31 new dams on the list, at $5000 per impoundment as per the old RFEP, equals $155,000, or a total of 4,134 new permits at $37.50 (75% of $50.00).
Will the new impoundments and spousal permits bring over 4000 new SIP holders into the system?

I do not have exact wording as i used gov website to contact them but it was about the implementation of new SIP .
This is the first time that I have ever been fobbed off from any government minister or department.

I'm still confused as to what permit/s are still required to fish NPD and Hinze from a kayak. Does the new SIP mean that it is all that is required, or does one still need a boating permit as well? Can anyone enlighten me?

The only way you can fish NPD with any watercraft is via the boating access scheme run by the PRFMA. Permits currently closed with a new round to be issued later this ye
NPD recreational use currently under review ( Has been last 3 years)by SEQ water.If they decide to open it up will take a while as major works will be required to provide road in and ramps as watercraft access will not be allowed from the current recreation areas near the dam wall

Update postmodofied with info from Hine dam fish management committee web site.
The Hinze Dam is the Gold Coast’s main drinking water supply and premier freshwater fishery. The 1,500 hectare dam is stocked with Bass, Golden Perch (Yellowbelly), Silver Perch and Saratoga.
The Hinze Dam Fish Management Committee is charged with stocking the dam. In 2016 there were 67,000 bass fingerlings released in the dam. All funds for stocking are raised by Anglers through a permit system.
Fishing Permits
As of 1 July 2016 the Hinze Dam will be part of the Stocked Impoundment Permit (SIP) Scheme. A SIP permit is required to fish the dam and can be purchased here.
All existing permits will be honoured under the SIP Scheme until their expiry.
Fishing Permits. Required to fish the Hinze Dam.
Weekly and Yearly Permits are available
A SIP permit is required to fish the dam and can be purchased here.
Fishing Permits Terms & Conditions.
Fishing at or on the dam is only to be carried out during 6am and 6pm
Comply with the Qld Gov DPI and fisheries recreational fishing rules and regulations which can be viewed on the web site listed below for catch sizes and bag limits
Filleting of any fish at or on the dam is prohibited
Only use freshwater shrimp or garden worms as bait or any lure or artificial soft plastic. Nets or cages are prohibited.
The fishing permit is non refundable

No changes have been made to Boating Permits, only the SIP Scheme has changed.

No one I know fishing Hinze from a kayak has a boating permit, but we all have the required fishing permit.

Thanks Ray and Dodge. On that advice, I think I will be taking my SIP to Hinze and go for a fish in my kayak!

Kudos to the Hinze guys for dropping their permit and moving over to the SIP. It's a precedent that could be copied elsewhere.

I would agree, pretty poor form to charge a boating permit and not use the funds to stock fish IMHO.
